FAQS
1. Where should my bib be placed to guarantee I will be placed and scored?
Your bib should be placed on the right-hand side of your back, vertically. The bib should be touching the side panel of your jersey. See examples below

2. Where should my bib be placed to guarantee I will NOT be placed and scored?
Anywhere else on your body, and not following Q1. See examples below.

3. What does it mean when my group is nutralized? What should I do?
If your group is being neutralized due to a faster group overtaking you, you must immediately move to the right-hand side of the track, cease racing, and slow to a neutralized pace. Maintain this neutralized pace until the passing group is at least 200 meters ahead. Do not attempt to draft, latch on, or accelerate with the passing group. Riders in breakaways or off the front of a neutralized group are also not permitted to join or blend into any passing groups—they must similarly allow the group to pass cleanly. Your group may be nutralized by the race referee and promoter.
4. This is America - what the heck is 200 meters?
See the pictures below of what 200 meters looks like. From the last corner on the flat course, 200 meters is half way up the final straight. Alternatively - it should take at least a minute for a passing group to be 200 meters or more in front of the group being passed.

5. What is the right race for me on the flat course?
Historically, each race has the following average MPH.
-
4/5: 24-26 MPH
-
Masters: 25-27 MPH
-
P123: 26-30+ MPH
It is important that you place yourself based on your ability. Our start times are based on the assumption that each category will race at the speeds above. Failing to do so may interfer with another category of racing.
6. Speaking of courses, what are the different courses?
This year, we'll have three courses. See below, with the direction of travel. Finsih lines are represented by the flag.

7. I've been dropped - can I get back into the race?
Yes, you may. This is a training race, and you're encouraged to get as much fitness as possible. If you are lapped or manage to catch back onto the peloton, you may rejoin — but you must stay at the back of the group. Do not move up through the field, as this can interfere with the dynamics of the active race and confuse riders who are still racing for position.

8. Races 2 and 3 of the 2025 series have ended up with pelotons finishing together, and groups leap frogging each other. Sh%tShow! What are you doing to stop this.
We hear you — weeks 2 and 3 have sucked: we’re making changes to keep the racing clean, staggered, and competitive:
-
Improved signage: We’ve purchased large, easy-to-see signs that will clearly indicate lap counts by category — “Masters”, “P/1/2/3”, “3/4/5” — so there’s no confusion about who has 2 or 1 laps to go. No matter what, we will stagger the finishes.
-
Neutralization enforcement: We’ll be reiterating our neutralization policy (see FAQ #3). Riders need to follow the rules when passing or being passed to maintain fairness and safety. We'll also add spotters to the course.
-
Riding etiquette: Any group not actively chasing a break and being passed by another field must ride on the right-hand side, two abreast at most. This allows passing groups to maintain momentum and safety.
-
Field removal policy: A peloton that isn’t chasing and is interfering with another race may be pulled with 15 minutes to go. We’ve purchased additional stopwatches to monitor lap times across all fields and will make real-time decisions to ensure integrity.
-
Category start order: We will adjust the start order of categories week to week based on real-world average speeds, not just assumptions.

9. What is the price for a race and why does it change?

We offer a $5 early bird discount when you register online before race day. Prior to race day, registration is $25 for your first race entry.
-
Online registration is available until 1:00 PM on race day and costs $30 when purchased that day.
-
Onsite registration is available for $40, though we encourage registering online to help reduce paperwork and streamline the process. The increased fee is to cover the additional paperwork handled by bikereg. If you register onsite, please ensure you have your racing license available and presented at checkin. We can't accept team codes onsite.
-
If you’re racing twice in a night, your second race is just $10, whether you sign up online or onsite.
Women and Juniors receive an additional $3 discount.

10. This race used to only be on Tuesdays. Why is it now on different days?
We hear you—and we feel the same way. We’d love for the race to be Tuesdays only, just like it used to be. Unfortunately, Pacific Raceways is a popular venue and is also used by other organizations, which sometimes limits our scheduling options. That said, we’re actively working with the track to secure a consistent Tuesday slot again and are hopeful we can return to that tradition soon.
11. I would like to lodge a complaint or tell the race referee about an incident during the race.
The race referee and promoter will be available to hear any protests, concerns, or incidents 10 minutes after the race has concluded, and this will take place in the staging area. Please do not approach them immediately at the finish line, as they are actively reviewing finish footage and finalizing placings during that time.
